With the announcement of the sale of the Marshall property at Highways 97 and 33, a major issue is how would this property best be developed? As most of the property is designated in the OCP as industrial and as Rene Dureault, the leader of the consortium that has bought the property, has himself stated that there is pent-up demand in the city for light industrial land, I believe that most of this area should be developed as light industrial of a non-polluting nature. There is a suggestion that some residential development occur on the site but if it is it should be a limited amount as I think the time has come for the city to look towards turning from population-driven growth to employment-driven growth with an increased emphasis being given to the latter.
