CRCP is attempting to gauge public opinion on the proposed development of the Boppart property as 76 buildings which will create 145 homes mostly duplexes. The land presently owned by Nature's Shores includes 66.5 acres of forest which serve as a natural habitat for numerous species. The area also contains several trails which people use to hike and mountain bike. The developer plans to dedicate 50% of the land as park for public use and to create a 1500 meter trail system. He also plans to make the waterfront an extension of Knox Mountain Park. However, natural habitats and migration corridors will still be disturbed by the erection of buildings and the creation of a marina which will accomodate about 75 boats which will likely be power boats. Are you happy with the concessions that are being made by the developer or would you like to see the city buy the property to preserve it in its natural state as a park?

CRCP is joining the Friends of Knox Mountain, the Central Okanagan Naturalists, the North End Residents Association and the Clifton Heights Community Association in their opposition to the development proposal of the Boppart property by the Mission Shores group. Our opposition is based on the proposal being contrary to the Official Community Plan, the Area Sector Plan, and the Zoning Bylaw and as such will create undesirably high residential densities on that land. CRCP would like as much of the area as possible to be retained in its natural state and for use by the general public as park space.
