The Daily Courier is reporting this morning that Kelowna city council has unanimously endorsed a staff proposal that "could amount to a moratorium on development projects in the area." The paper reports that the Pandosy-KLO district has exceed the growth projection of the OCP in just six years and that the infrastructure of the area is becoming severly strained.
This all sounds good but I'm asking myself why did staff and council take so long to recognize this and act? Also why is this vision not being applied to other parts of the city? Just about everywhere you look vehicle traffic is exceeding the capacity of the road network. Figures will be available soon that will show how close other sectors of the city are to being fully developed within the framework of the 2020 OCP.
