There was a lot of interest and discussion of the concept of "sustainability" during the recent civic election campaign. On March 21, 2005 there was a panel discussion on sustainability hosted by UBCO at the Rotary Centre. For all their rhetoric during the election campaing, it saddens me to report that only three members of Kelowna city council bothered to attend, Mayor Shepherd and Councillors Brian Given and Norm Letnick. Absent were Andre Blanleil, Barry Clark, Colin Day, Carol Gran, Robert Hobson, and Michelle Rule.
