The idea of removing dumpsters in the alleys downtown has received much media attention lately. I think the idea is an excellent one. It will remove some of the blighted look that the downtown has. This is yet another example of how the downtown can be revitalized without resorting to mega-projects such as Lawson Landing. Ideas such as this and just giving the downtown an overall "face-lift" in terms of increased beautification such as improving the look of storefronts will help greatly. Duane Tresnich of MoveKelownaForward says that this has been tried several times without success. Well, Duane, if it has been tried then how come the downtown still looks so mediocre? Perhaps it was never done correctly or thoroughly enough.
