On August 7, 2005 the Sunday Okanagan ran a story "City showing happier face this year" about how merchants are pleased with the cleanup of the downtown core. Michelle Neill of Mosaic Books is quoted as saying "In the last three months, it's dramatically changed. I don't see any of the addicts like I used to." "Paul Wendt of Wendt's Jewellers applauded the police for their efforts. ... I think the police station in the (City) park is a good idea."
