City council has decided to spend $5000 to look at the potential of establishing a business-supported lobby group similar to the Downtown Kelowna Association in Rutland, according to the Daily Courier. The paper goes on to state that there already is a Rutland Business Association and that Rutland business owners are reluctant to kick in any more towards the establishment of a new organization. But our city council thinks it knows best and doesn't mind spending our tax dollars to fund something that is both unnecessary and unwanted. Remember this group didn't shell out a dime to save the Iridian Centre from collapse, but then the Iridian Centre isn't part of the local urban growth machine.
