On Nov. 30, 2005 noted author Suzanne Crowhurst Lennard spoke in Kelowna on the topic "Seeing our city through the eyes of a child." Lennard was critical of urban sprawl and uncontrolled growth as being harmful to children and advocated compact communities along the lines of old European cities as being the most child-friendly. Lennard also advocated that architecture be on a human scale with building heights no greater than five storeys. Over 100 people representing various stakeholder groups in the community were present including several members of CRCP. Some media including Oldies 1150 personality Phil Johnson were also there. Local media big mouths John Harding and John Michaels did not attend.
